Thoughts Before a New Beginning
The year 2025 is passing by very fast reminding us of the adage "Time and tide waits for none." The New Year 2026 is ringing in and will pass by in a few breaths. A famous Latin phrase "Dum Spiro Spero, Dum Spero Amo, Dum Amo Vivo" translates to "While I breathe, I hope; while I hope, I love; while I love, I live." It goes to mean that, amidst of challenges, never forget the strength of hope and love. Hope empowers us to face challenges with resilience, while love enriches our lives and the lives of others. Remember to cherish each breath, nurture hope, cultivate love, and embrace life's gifts fully.
A new beginning brings with it lots of new hopes, dreams and aspirations. It should truly be so because to achieve big in life, one must dream big. At a personal level, the year 2025 began for me with lots of pains and ill-health because of an accident I met with in the month of December, 2024 for which I had to be admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a hospital with very thin hope of revival. However, due to blessings of my loved ones including each one of my office, I recovered and bounced back to my daily routine even though I am far away from being fully recovered. I am deeply indebted to each one of them who stood by me and my family during those difficult days without which I would not have been where I am today.
Those difficult days were however an eye-opener for me — in fact a period of blessing in disguise when I got a chance to lie back albeit in pain, introspect and learn to start life afresh. During those difficult days, I learnt though in a hard way that life is precious and to become the best version of oneself, one must continuously edit one's beliefs and upgrade & expand one's identity. This is applicable in one's both personal as well as professional life.
In this office, each one of us belongs to a family though in a professional way. We should always bear in mind that none of us is indispensable personally and each one of us is a mere baton carrier to hand over the baton we are carrying today to someone next in queue. However, this office will remain always and our being or not being hardly makes any difference. One pertinent role we have while in office is that each one of us must strive hard to contribute towards well-being and advancement of this office in performing the role assigned with all sincerity.
There is no denying the fact that this office has seen much advancement in last couple of years as was never before and contribution of each one of this office has been tremendous which must be acknowledged with all sincerity. In fact, our laboratory is today one of the best state food testing laboratories in the country being appreciated throughout the country. Having said so, there is a disclaimer that we have a long way to go as up-gradation of a scientific organisation like ours is a continuous process and has to be continued without a break on the way.
We also at the same time know that we have our own set of difficulties and limitations to address for which the efforts are ongoing, some being addressed and expect that others to be addressed soon. The difficulties, challenges and yet to be fulfilled aspirations should never hold us back and continue to play the roles we are assigned by virtue of being government servants being paid from public money against roles we are supposed to play.
Lastly, we also need to always remember that for any organisation to improve and flourish, camaraderie amongst all members is extremely vital and so each one of us must get away from our personal ego, ill-feelings towards one another, if any & never allow them to accompany us to the office premise.
Lastly, I sincerely believe that this New Year 2026 will be much better than the yesteryears for our laboratory in terms of its overall improvement and wellbeing. I expect each one of us to strive to improve and wholeheartedly contribute towards that end.
