The laboratory is fully operational, currently analysing samples for a defined set of parameters, and is actively pursuing NABL accreditation — which is expected to be in place by August 2026.

NABL Accreditation in Progress: The Microbiology Laboratory is currently in the process of obtaining NABL accreditation as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017. All testing is carried out following validated standard methods and good laboratory practices. Accreditation is expected to be completed by August 2026, after which reports will carry full NABL statutory validity.
SPHL Assam is equipped with a state-of-the-art analytical suite including hyphenated mass spectrometry platforms for trace-level detection. All instruments are maintained under NABL accreditation and calibrated by NABL-accredited calibration agencies.
Liquid Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry. Trace-level detection of polar pesticides, neonicotinoids, carbamates, mycotoxins and veterinary drug residues.
Gas Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry. Multi-residue organochlorine, organophosphorus, pyrethroid and volatile compound screening.
Inductively Coupled Plasma–Mass Spectrometry. Ultra-trace heavy metal and metalloid determination in food, agricultural products and water (ppb to ppt levels).
Gas Chromatography with Flame Ionisation and Electron Capture Detectors. Routine solvent, fat and halogenated compound analyses.
High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with UV/Diode Array Detection. Vitamins, synthetic dyes, preservatives, sugars and food additives.
High-pressure microwave acid digestion for complete sample mineralisation — essential sample preparation step prior to ICP-MS trace metal analysis.
Reference gravimetric and distillation systems for protein (Kjeldahl nitrogen), moisture and fat (Soxhlet extraction) determinations.
Routine colorimetric assays for iodine, chloride, fluoride, nitrate, phosphate, iron and food additive screening.
Microscopic examination for filth analysis, extraneous matter detection, identification of rodent excreta, hair and insect fragments in food products.
